San Marino is a small country located in the southern Tessin subregion of Italy. It’s bordered by France to the east, and by Austria to the north. The terrain is dissected by the Piave River, which runs through the center of the country. The population is about 120,000 people, and it’s made up of about 60% Roman Catholics and 40% Muslims. Tourism is San Marino’s main economic activity, and it contributes around 10% of the country’s GDP.
