Things to Do in Halifax Area

You might be wondering what to do in Halifax when you’re in the area. A few things to consider, but not all are within walking distance of downtown Halifax. Here are some suggestions for what to do when you’re in the area:

1. Take a driving tour of the Citadel Museum. Admission is $10 and includes access to a self-guided walkthrough of the museum’s galleries full of military memorabilia and historical artifacts from all eras of Canada’s history.

2. Visit Dalhousie University, home to more than 35,000 students and many world-renowned research centres. Go behind the scenes at its top research centres, such as Thalès Laboratories for biotechnology and computational biology, or Physiology and Health Sciences Research Centre for medical research, or even learn about its unique relationship with the Canadian Armed Forces through an interactive exhibit titled “Inspired by one” that tells stories about how researchers at Dalhousie have influenced national security through their work on a wide range of issues like technology, defence production and homeland security.

3. Visit The Rose Garden at Sir Wilfrid Laurier Park (the official park where Sir Wilfred Laurier was born) where you can stroll through this 24

Halifax neighborhoods to visit

There are a lot of things to do in Halifax, and there’s no shortage of great places to visit.

Begin with the Citadel Museum. Located in Halifax’s Citadel Park, this museum boasts outstanding exhibits that tell the history of Halifax’s development and gives visitors a taste of what life was like during the First World War. Visitors can also explore interactive exhibits that allow people to use their smartphones to record and play back amazing sounds captured by microphones at different times throughout history.

The city has plenty more for you to see. For example, if you’d rather explore nature rather than buildings or museums, you can head to the beautiful Argyle Beach Provincial Park (free parking). You can also take a tour through Rupert’s Land Provincial Park (free admission) or visit one of several botanical gardens in the city such as The Baddeck Botanical Garden (free admission).

If photography is your passion, then the National Gallery of Canada is nearby. Visitors can learn about Canadian art and discover how our ancestors painted pictures for us long before it was popularized in art galleries across the world. Take advantage of free admission on weekends and holidays throughout most parts of the year; call ahead for specific dates and hours if you’re unsure when

Get lost in the city centre

The city centre is where the action is. The main street in Halifax is King St., which connects many of the neighbourhoods. Here you’ll find shops, restaurants and bars, as well as institutions like the Citadel Museum, Dalhousie University and the Halifax Public Library.

One way to get lost in Halifax’s city centre is by walking. Walk off a little stress with a leisurely stroll along King St., stopping to take photos on the way. You might even want to do a little shopping at one of those interesting boutiques that are scattered around town.

If you’re looking for something more exciting, visit the Maritime Centre for some excitement like a performance at The Spectrum or an innovative exhibit at The Exploratorium.

If you’re looking for something more relaxing, we recommend getting out on the water and taking in some of our famous beaches or visiting some of our beautiful parks like Mill Cove Park or Shubenacadie Regional Park .

Enjoy local food and drinks

Halifax is the second largest city in Nova Scotia, and it’s well known for its seafood. Whether you want to enjoy a casual meal at a local pub or spend the day shopping at a nearby outlet mall, there are plenty of places in Halifax that satisfy all your foodie cravings.

When you’re looking for a place to eat, don’t just look at the menu. Go into the restaurant with an open mind and see what they have to offer. Food is only as good as its presentation; it’s no use taking food from a plate that looks like it came from your fridge and calling it delicious!

If you’re looking for something more exciting than standard meals, consider visiting one of Halifax’s many fine dining establishments. And if you’re looking for drinks to accompany your meal, try out any of Halifax’s many bars or restaurants where drinks are served by friendly staff who’ll make sure your experience with their establishment goes smoothly.

Take a walk around the Harbour District

The Harbour District is a historical neighbourhood of Halifax that has been revitalized through the work of community groups. It’s home to some of the oldest buildings in the city, many of which have been restored and turned into unique attractions.

Although it’s not the most exciting part of town, the area is still worth visiting. The Maritime National Historic Site , located on the south side of Yarmouth Road, is an actual replica of a ship that was used as an armed merchant vessel during World War II. It’s open during regular hours and features exhibits on Nova Scotia history and maritime life in general.

The Maritime Museum , located at 24 Water Street, also features exhibits on Canadian history and maritime life in general. Admission is free (admission dependant upon time).

Check out Dartmouth’s rich history

Located on the shores of Halifax Harbour, it was an important port for more than a century and a half. That’s why Dartmouth has so much history to offer visitors from around the world.

You can find many historic landmarks like Fort Needham and Fort Cumberland to see. You can also experience some of its best-known historical events, such as the Battle of Halifax or the Siege of Halifax during World War II. In fact, one of your city guides could tell you about any number of historical places to visit in Dartmouth!

Visit the Halifax Arts Festival.

The Halifax Arts Festival is a cultural and artistic celebration held every two years. It’s a great way to explore the city, see local talent in the arts, and connect with culture. The festival offers many events, including live music performances, films, exhibitions, and more.

If you’re looking to learn more about Canada’s first official national festival of visual arts, then make sure to visit Halifax Arts Festival.

In addition to the main event that takes place every two years in May (the festival itself), there are over 20 other shows happening throughout the year. For more information on what’s happening at the festival each year (and dates when you can attend!), visit their website
